Corporate Selection Procedure

Jayawant Institute of Management Studies offers a wonderful Campus Placements opportunity to students to get placed during the course and provide the comforts of a safe and secure future for you. Keeping in mind the questions you students will have in your mind about the process of such placements drives, here we have explained you the crisp of general placement & selection process which commonly the companies follows.
It is very vital for you to get yourself ready for placement drives, to prepare adequately for such on campus and off campus drives and make sure that you put your best foot forward just go through the given points. Make it clear, that these are generalized points. The exact selection process will be different depending upon the companies and designation offered.
Basically there are two types of campus placements:
On-Campus Placement Drives:
In on-Campus placement drives the companies visit the college and select the candidates based on their ability on a pre defined selection process which will be intimated by the company well in advance.
Off-Campus Drive:
In off campus drives the interview process will be conducted at the venue decided by the employer. Selection will be based the ability of the students and the process of selection will be decided by the employer. Apart from the students of our institute other students may also participate in the interview as per the discrete of the employer.
Pool Campus/Job fair:
In pool campus or job fair this can be organized either in the college or at a common public place where number of employers will be there. Students will also be participating from various institutes. The selection process will also vary from company to company and designation to designation. We, JIMS, organize number of pool campus and job fair at our institute itself.

Pre – Placement Talk

Many companies conduct a pre-placement talk. In this the companies gives a general view about themselves which is often in a presentation form. The details given in pre placement talk include the profile of the company, growth by years, area of operation, Vision, mission, board etc. Through these talks the company will also gives the growth opportunities and other benefits the candidates will get by being a part of the company. The candidates will also be encouraged to ask questions to get their doubts clarified.

Educational Qualification

The companies will pay much attention towards the academic performance of the students. Many of the companies impose basic criteria for selection as academic qualification (eg. Only students with throughout first class can apply. Students with no backlog can only apply etc).

Written Test

Most of the companies conduct written test to assess the knowledge of the candidate in the concerned area. Many a times this will be objective type questions either online or offline. In few cases this will be subjective also depending on the vacancy. This test may often contain questions based on mathematics, logical reasoning, English proficiency or even particular subject based questions (eg. Financial formulas, models etc). The written test will be the qualifier round for further rounds. Students those who clear the round will be considered for further round. The criteria for clearing the round will be decided by the individual company itself.

Group Discussion

Group discussion may also conduct by many the companies as a selection process. Generally for management positions GD will be conducted. The objective behind conducting the GD is to assess the leadership, communication skill, listening ability, etiquette of a candidate, convincing power and knowledge of a candidate. Generally this will be a common topic which will be assigned on the spot.

Technical Interview:

Technical round is conducted for IT based positions generally. This round will be conducted to check the technical ability of the candidates.

HR Interview

Certain company conducts HR round for almost all positions. This round will generally be the last round which is conducted before final placement. The objective of the round is to assess the behavioral aspect of the candidate and judge the final staffing of the employee.
