Importance of Library

  • The Institute library is meant to supports the students in their studies.
  • Students can burrow books and take them home for further study.
  • Apart of text books, students often need reference books to prepare notes.
  • The mind of the students gets broadened and he commands better grasp over the subject. He starts to think in a new dimension altogether.
  • Since the environment at the Institute library is peaceful, students can study at the library without any disturbances. Library is an appreciable place for studies and mental development.
  • In Institutes, students are often given tasks to finish after Institute hours. A student can visit the Institute-library and finish those tasks.
  • A student can develop his literary skills by reading rare books of literature.
  • The academic magazines and periodicals keep the student aware of the latest development around the world.
  • The library opens a world of wisdom for the student. A student can build his confidence by going through the books of his interest.
  • The Institute library promotes building a knowledge-driven community for the future.

Objective of Library

  • To assemble, preserve and administer, in organized collections, books and related educational, historical and recreational materials in order to promote knowledge, enlightened citizenship and the enrichment of personal lives.
  • To serve as the information center of the community
  • To provide the opportunity for continuous self-education of children, young people and adults
  • To identify with community needs, to provide programs of service to meet such needs, and to cooperate with other organizations, agencies, and institutions which can provide local programs or services.
  • To cooperate with the school district libraries to strengthen community resources.
  • To provide opportunity for a more advantageous use of leisure time through books, audiovisual materials, programs, and other art forms and formats.
  • To Provide current library materials and databases that support the academic curriculum
  • To Provide access to information resources, regardless of location
  • To Educate and assist college, students and staff in the identification and effective use of information resources

Infrastructure

  • Total Library Area: 225 Sq. Meters
  • There are three separate halls, one each for Reference Section, Circulation Section, Reading Hall and Digital Library.

General Behavior Policy:
Users are expected to respect other users and library staff. Disruptive activity or any behavior interfering with ordinary library use or operation, likely to endanger others, or those others might reasonably find disruptive is not permitted.   • The minimum is 2 people and the maximum is 6 people
  • Noise carries, please moderate the volume of your discussions

Library -Food & Drink policy



Noise Policy

  • Please eat your meals outside the libraries. The libraries are not cafeterias or food courts.
  • Meals tend to produce more garbage and more mess and this type of atmosphere is not conducive to study and learning.

The Library is a dynamic resource and it offers a wide range of services, materials and environments. Some of our library users require a place for quiet concentration and study. Excessive noise carries from the Group Study so please moderate the noise level of your discussions. Excessive noise or inappropriate behaviour is never appreciated by either your neighbours or the staff.

Cell Phones Policy
Cell phones must be set on silent mode, and only devices with touch screen keyboards are permitted in library. We understand that you may wish to have your cell phones on but please leave the library to make or take calls.

Care of library borrower cards:
Take special care to maintain the library borrower cards. Do not fold, alter entries made on the cards, Members are responsible for the entire set of library borrower card issued to them.

Loss of cards:
Loss of borrower card should be reported to the librarian. Duplicate card may be issued against formal application and fine.

Validity of cards:
Library borrower cards are valid for the entire duration of the course to access library facilities at the end of the course

Care of Library Books:
Students are require to handle the books/ Journal very carefully; marking with pencil , writing or highlighting , tearing the pages or mutilating the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously. In such case reader shall be held responsible unless these are brought to the notice from the library staff at the time of issue.

LIBRARY RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Every student entering the library premises should have an identity card. It should be produce as and when demanded by the library staff.
  • Students must handle books or any other reading material with the responsibility. Defacing or tearing the pages will be treated as misconduct and the defaulter will be treated as misconduct and the defaulter will be strictly dealt with. The library material included books, magazines, journals, CD’s, PC’s and equipment should be handled with almost care.
  • Library timings- Monday to Saturday: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm
  • During the Examination Reading Hall Timing for all days can be extended on students demand.
  • Membership: Every year library issued Identity Cards to the student using barcode. Through this card students can borrow the books for reading room. Library membership cards are also provided to facilitate the home lending facility. All staff appointed is member of library.
  • Every student is required to enter his/her name in library entry register at the entrance of the library.
  • All students will be issued 2 book at a time for 7 days on borrower’s card and 1 book in reading room for a day on identity cards.
  • Books will not be renewed which are on demand.
  • Smoking, spiting, eating are strictly prohibited in the library premises.
  • Please maintain silence in the library.
  • Keep your mobile switch off.
  • The library reserves the right to search any personal item and does not accept liability for loss or damage to them.
  • Users / readers belongings should be kept outside stock area.
  • Students / readers shall not write on or damage the book and journals. Before leaving the counter borrower must satisfy himself / herself that the book sent is in good condition and if not must immediately bring the matter to the notice of the concerned staff, he/she is required to replace such damaged or lost book by new copy. In case this is not possible due to such book being out of print the member will be required to pay the prevailing cost of the book with additional change as determined by the librarian subject to a maximum of 100% of the prevailing cost of the book.
  • The date on which the book must be returned is stamped on the slip affixed to the book and student delaying the return is fined as per the rules of library committee.
  • Students must inspect the book at the time of borrowing and make sure that they are complete and undamaged. At the time of issue if any damage is noticed, a student should inform the library staff. Any damage detected at the time of return of the book will be the responsibility of the student and will have to pay the penalty as well as the appropriate cost of the book or replace the book.
  • In case the identity card/borrower’s card is lost, kindly inform to the librarian immediately to prevent its misuse.
  • Users must submit identity card/borrower’s card to library at the time of clearance.
  • Users are requested to have a cordial relationship with library staff.

DIGITAL LIBRARY

JIMS provide e-learning generation, the digital library Digital libraries consist of a collection of digital resources. These resources are generally stored in a broad range of formats and can be accessed by users over a computer network. Students have access to thousands of digital files, like e-books, e-journals, lecture videos, etc. with high speed internet connection to help the students retrieve the files quickly. The Digital Library is located in the library. Printing, Scanning Facilities are also provided in digital library

The collection on varied subjects such as Philosophy, Religion, Human rights, Psychology, Personality development , Yoga, Literature, Humanities, and Management. These books are used by students and staff for overall personality development. Near about 185 books are available in library

Newspaper Corner
The Library has Newspaper Corner daily news paper like Employment new, Business Economic , Time of India and many more daily news paper are displayed here for essay access for student.

Newspaper Clipping
Same like Newspaper Corner from daily News paper important news (like Budget, and advertisement) will Display on Notice Board.

Career and Employment Information.
Career and employment information is very much important for student as it guides them towards career awareness. Now a days, every student talks about career and employment opportunities in their early college days. Career and Employment Information corner plays a vital role among the students to achieve this. JIMS provide Employment news Paper to student and help of Digital library with free internet access student can find different job opportunity on the internet.

Current Awareness Service (CAS)
Current Awareness Service (CAS) is a kind of awareness service to the users. This service is provided in order to keep the library users aware of the new addition of books and journals or any other resources. For the case of print books, weekly new arrival list is being displayed at the Library. Similarly, the list of newly added issues of print journals put on display on the notice board of the Current Display Section. All electronic resources are listed in library. The displayed books or Journal are not allowed to issue for one week.

Reference Services & Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)
The Reference services are provided from the Reference Desk to help the users in locating a book or periodical, providing information on a topic, an event, a person, a date, a place, or a word, and giving instructions regarding the method of using the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), and offering research and advisory services to library users, and meeting enquiry about library services.

Reading Hall with Proper Ventilation.
JIMS also has AC Reading Hall with Wi-Fi connectivity to provide a comfortable environment for students to do their routine reading, assignments or even various B-school competitions.

Digital Library & Internet Facility
The Digital Library is located in the library, Digital Library having the facility of Internet and is having an excellent collection of References, Magazines, e-Journals, , Dailies, Videocassettes, CDs, e-volumes of references etc. student can have easy access of digital library with internet facility.

Printing, Scanning and Reprography Facility:
The Library provides Printing, Scanning Facility. High quality printer are available in JIMS library. Document Print or Scanning in the Library, you need a JIMS student identity card or a Library membership card. For particular importance in the production of posters, important article Reprography facility is also available.

Art exhibition and competition
The Library is glad to announce that it will be providing space for art exhibits which reflect the diverse talent of the Junior College students. An Art Selection Committee will consider different works and choose EIGHT pieces to display in the Library. Selected artists are given a two-month showing.
